For some reason, every time I go to Bear Rocks, it is cloudy, and windy. It is still one of the greatest views in Dolly Sods. Bear RocksThe view from Bear Rocks is tremendous. The wind is powerful. If you go to Dolly Sods, don't miss it. It is just a few hundred yards off FR 75. If you are traveling north on FR 75, it is at the north end just before you turn east (right) to go down the mountain. In July, you can find lots of blueberries growing all over the area. In June, you can find a cranberry bog about 200 yards due west from the small parking area. Walking across a cranberry bog is alot like walking on a sponge. At first it is pretty neat, but if you have a pack, it can be quite disquieting after awhile. Bear Rocks is the best place to depart if you are going to hike into
the northern area. You can access Round Hilltop
and the Raven Ridge Trail if you have a map,
compass and a willingness to wander a bit when you lose the trail. Add Your Comments (0)
