![]() Wild Mountain AzaleasJust below the Round Hilltop are groves of Azaleas that bloom in early June. There were even some orange Azaleas. When the Azaleas are in bloom, the area truly looks like a manicured garden. In June the grass is still bright green and not too long. The ferns that are in all of the lowland areas are small lush. Campsites in this area are easy to find because you can camp anywhere on the soft grassy ground.
BlueberriesOn Round Hilltop and near Bear Rocks in August, you can graze until you are sick of wild blueberries. We decided to try to collect a one quart water bottle full to bring home. Two of us were picking blueberries for nearly 45 minutes and we didn't even fill our bottle half way. The blueberries are smallish compared to those that you find in the store. We were there in early July and they were just becoming ripe. I expect that they would have been more ripe after one or two more weeks. We also expected to see more wildlife while we were up there, but since there is no cover, every animal for 2 miles was probably aware of our presence. Add Your Comments (0)
