Ramsey's Draft Stream Crossings

During this early April trip, we enjoyed a plenty of opportunities to rockhop across The small creek. The sun was still filtering down through the openings in the forest to reflect harshly off the stream.

Stupid Stream Crossing Method

As we headed down the mountain, the stream became bigger and more difficult to cross without getting in over your boots. The crossings were also more frequent--bushwhacking, forget it! The solution was to either hike in sandals or seek out trees that had fallen across the trail. It became a competetion to see who could cross in the most adventurous way. I bowed out when the trees were more than 4 feet off the water.....somehow falling that far into a cold rocky stream with my 40 pound pack seemed like a bad idea. But some of our group boldly crossed where on squirrels dared go before. It was lots of fun!!

Big 'Ol Hemlocks: A Tree-Hugger's Paradise

If you are a true tree-hugger, Ramsey's Draft is the place to go. The trees here are truly large. Don't worry, we know you want to try hugging a tree.....we won't tell.

The Lower Section of the Ramsey's Draft Trail

As you approach the bottom of the trail, the path becomes quite easy and pleasant. Sandals are no problem, even with a backpack. Hiking from the bottom along this trail would be easy for most people.
