Waterfall Gallery

Waterfalls can be some of the most spectacular images. I often find that they take my breath away when I stand in the windy area below them. Whenever I see a waterfall, I feel compelled to stop and try to capture it with my camera. Unfortuanately, they can be either too big or too remote to take a complete picture. Nevertheless, I still try, and here are my best shots..

Falling Springs Virginia.

Several of the pictures below are from falling Springs. Amazingly, this one is taken from the road that winds up the side of the mountain. Falling Springs is about 1 hour west of Lexington Virginia off of Route 64 near Clifton Forge Virginia.

Beneath Falling Springs

The area below and beneath this waterfall is lots of fun. There are small pools to play in and swim in. But be careful, the water is coming down so hard that it is painful to go under it.

Falling Springs

Some friends are walking in the foreground of the picture. This give you an idea of the scale of the falls from the bottom. I think we estimated it at about 75 feet.

Falls at Mount Ranier

I don't remember the name of this falls, but it is along the road up to Paradise. It is a short walk down to the falls along a pleasant boardwalk with stairs.

Otter Creek Waterfall

For me, it doesn't matter whether the falls is 100 feet tall or 10 feet tall. This little falls is about a 6 mile hike up Otter Creek. We camped near here and went swimming at a beautiful swimming hole.

Swallow Falls in Winter

Getting to this falls was rather treacherous. The trails were icy and slick. But the final view was worth the effort.
